We call it matchmaking - our customers: ”Nice to meet you.“

There is nothing to replace a face-to-face meeting and a direct exchange of information and genuine insights. So get to know your new customers directly through the IPD.

Direct B2B meetings at trade fairs and purchasing trips

By tailor-made matchmaking, the IPD facilitates direct B2B meetings and long-term business contacts to reliable buyers. We organise the participation in international trade fairs for our exporters.

With our purchasing trips we take interested buyers directly to the suppliers in our partner countries. This enables buyers from Europe to obtain first-hand information on product quality and production conditions in the respective field. Suppliers can discuss and negotiate requirements and offers with prospective customers on the spot and in concrete terms.

Our individual trainings and workshops also provide you with the necessary expertise in quality, process and export management to enable you to export to the EU with lasting success.

Sales Training at Fruit Logistica 2018

Achieve new contacts to potential buyers in the EU
Make your sales talks effective and successful
Generate sustainable profits.

These are the goals of face-to-face contact at an international trade fair like FRUIT LOGISTICA in Berlin/Germany.
But how to negotiate with European buyers? How to present your products attractively in a short time? How to master difficult dialogues? What are the business practices concerning communication, understanding of time, social manners, and negotiation strategies?

In order to be prepared for these issues, the IPD organises a sales training over three days for exporters participating in the IPD programme. This specialized training provides you with the skills, concepts and methods that will help you influence the decisions of your counterparts and enhance the prospects of your trade fair participation. The IPD experts will equip you with tools and techniques to present your products to European buyers in a way that they are familiar with – so that intercultural differences will not have  a negative influence on your business talks.

During FRUIT LOGISTICA, the exporters can put their newly acquired skills into practice. For this, IPD experts accompany pre-arranged meetings with potential European buyers and give direct feedback. With this preparation, business with German and European importers runs smoothly and without any trouble.

European Enterprise Promotion Award 2017: EU Commission’s recognition for the work of the IPD

Bonn/Tallinn, 04.12.2017 - As part of its European Enterprise Promotion Awards 2017, the EU Commission recognised the IPD as a special project in the category “Supporting the internationalisation of business”. The prize has been awarded by the European Commission since 2006. Special mention was made of the outstanding support that the IPD offers for the internationalisation of small and medium-sized enterprises in its partner countries. In its German preliminary decision, the expert jury of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy had already shown itself impressed by the IPD, recognising it as an initiative for the sustainable and structured import promotion of products from selected developing and emerging countries.

The European Enterprise Promotion Awards reward private and public institutions who promote entrepreneurship and small business at the national, regional and local level. Initiatives from all EU countries, as well as Iceland, Serbia, and Turkey can take part in the competition. Since 2006, over 2,800 projects have entered the awards and together they have supported the creation of thousands of new companies.
The award ceremony will take place in November in Tallinn within the SME Assembly of the European Commission.

Guide to the EUTR – European Timber Regulation

With the entry into force of the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) in March 2013, a crucial step to combat global illegal logging was taken and thus public acceptability of wood as material from renewable resources was improved. The EUTR bans illegal timber in the EU and obliges anyone who places timber or timber products on the European market for the first time to assess the risk of those products coming from an illegal source and to reduce any identified risk.

Success Story

Legal and sustainable tropical timber from Peru

The Import Promotion Desk (IPD) and its partners in Peru support responsibly operating companies in their efforts to export certified timber products to Europe. An essential part of IPD’s work is to create awareness of European quality and sustainability standards in Peru’s private and public sectors. At the same time, the IPD provides German importers with an alternative buying market, which will allow them to optimise their purchasing activities and increase their product variety. In this way, international development cooperation and import promotion go hand in hand.
