Growing demand

Tapping the European market

The European seafood sector is currently facing huge challenges – wild catches and aquaculture production is declining while seafood consumption in general is growing year on year. The seafood industry in Europe is therefore more and more reliant on imports.

At the same time, sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in this sector. Consumers are paying more attention to traceable supply chains and whether the fish they buy comes from sustainable sources.

This is your opportunity! If you are a supplier of seafood, located in one of our partner countries, IPD supports you in entering the European market. Ideally you already hold certications such as ASC, BAP, MSC or Naturland. Or you are part of a fishery or aquaculture improvement project (AIP/FIP) with the goal to obtain such certification. IPD supports these companies on their way to becoming certified.

The aim is to ensure that the companies in our programme continue to develop in the area of sustainability and take more and more measures to achieve this. Through intensive training and coachings, e.g. on corporate social responsibility (CSR) or sustainability in the seafood sector, you will be well prepared for the requierements of the European market.
